Take Care depends on your financial support to provide first-rate legal analysis of the Trump Administration—and to develop valuable resources for civil rights lawyers, journalists, scholars, policymakers, and informed citizens.

We are not affiliated with any institution.  Instead, we depend on private donations to forge ahead and keep pace with fast-moving legal developments.

Unlike the Donald J. Trump Foundation, we respect the limits of the law, including restrictions on 501(c)(3) organizations—which are prohibited under the Johnson Amendment from engaging in a wide range of political and lobbying activities.

Because some of our posts and other resources may involve political speech and activity, especially in this age of semi-permanent presidential campaigns, we are not a 501(c)(3) entity, and contributions to us are not tax deductible.

This not only ensures compliance with federal law, but prevents the Administration from causing mischief if Trump’s penchant for abusing the legal system to punish critics ends up influencing the IRS.  We hope that never happens, but we’d rather be safe than sorry.

You can rest assured that all financial support we receive will be spent maintaining and expanding this website and its educational resources, and pursing our core mission: providing insightful, accessible, and timely legal analysis of whether the President is respecting his duty to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.”
