Hetali Lodaya

Michigan Law School

Hetali is a 3L at Michigan Law, also pursing a dual degree in the School of Education. She is a member of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform, the Student Rights Project, and the Pro Bono Board, and would like to pursue civil rights and public education-related work long-term. She spent her first summer on both coasts, starting at the Education Law Center in Philadelphia and finishing at Public Counsel in Los Angeles. Prior to law school, she was a Venture for America Fellow and worked at an education startup in San Antonio. She is a 2014 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) where she studied chemistry and public policy, and loves to travel, run, drink tea, and try new vegan recipes.

The Trump administration (with some success) is making an argument to justify discrimination against transgender persons that would roll back some of the protections against other forms of discrimination as well.
