DACA recipients have filed suit against the Trump Administration over President Trump’s decision to end the program. Lambda Legal has filed an amicus brief in the travel ban case, arguing that President Trump’s ban is an unconstitutional violation of religious freedom. President Trump has called on the U.N. to reform itself, but stated that the Trump Administration will be “partners in your work.” Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke has recommended that regulations on 10 national monuments be loosened or downsized.

REGULATION

Republicans have demanded another vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act (NYT, The Guardian).

  • But the Congressional Budget Office will not be able to provide a full assessment before the Republicans’ September 30th deadline (Politico).

The Trump Administration is using the Environmental Protection Agency to prop up Big Coal, writes the NYT Editorial Board.

RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE

President Trump’s legal team is clashing internally over how much to cooperate with the Russian interference investigation (NYT).

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell seek to leverage uncertainties in the rules for impeachment to their advantage. White House officials indicated that President Trump threatened to veto a recent spending bill if it included language requiring release of military aid to Ukraine early next year. The DHS OIG said that it found “no misconduct” by department officials in the deaths of two migrant children who died in Border Patrol custody last year. And the FISA court ordered the Justice Department to review all cases that former FBI official Kevin Clinesmith worked on.
